The Big Loser is here

I have been horrible at keeping up to date on my progress. I am happy to say that I have been doing approximately 5 miles a day with the gym being my biggest help. The training has me walking and running which helps put on the miles.

Thanks to everyone that's still supporting Newt and I on this quest to raise some money for a very good cause. I'm starting to hear advertisements for the State Fair which sadly means that summer is coming to an end sooner than we would like. But I'm going to enjoy every single minute of what I can!

Newt's Miles

Well, the mall trip didn't turn out to be the walking extravaganza we had planned. I got out of a meeting when we were supposed to be meeting there. And then of course traffic sucked to get across town. So, my fault. It ended up being a short night.

However we did find some fabulous shoes (of course) - the DSW in Mall of America is remodeling so they had an additional 30% off clearance prices. Can't beat that!

Anywhoodle, here's the miles for the week:

I'm Whole Again

My new pedometer arrived in the mail. Yippee. This one comes with a safety harness. Ha Ha Ha - hopefully I can hold on to it for more than a month.

Anywhoodle, sorry this update is late.

Steps: 69,768
Miles: 26.36

Tonight, we go to the mall. That will put on some mileage!

Newt Checks In

I was heading for my plane at the Dallas airport.
Going through security
Being a good little citizen and putting all my junk in the bucket
When I reach for my pedometer
let's here a good ol' Minnesota "Awwww Crap!"

Yes, that's right, the pedometer is somewhere between the hotel and the car rental bus.

So after a little more swearing I accepted my fate and headed home.

But no sooner did I get back into town that I headed to Target for a new pedometer.

It's crap. But it will get me through till the new one arrives in the mail.

Anywhoodle:

Steps: 67,480
Miles: 25.42

I do have to say that I have gotten so used to having it attached to me that I felt pretty naked those few hours. And the pedometer - my poor lost lovely pedometer, it had a clock. So I always knew what time it was.

It's amazing what can become a wonderful and fun habit.

I had high hopes of doing a lot of walking in Dallas. However, it was 100 degrees, humid, and there is no shade. So, I had a choice, get hot, sweaty, red faced, and HOT, or ride in the air conditioned car. I chose the car. Walking home was ok. I could go take a quick cold shower before dinner. But I do have to confess, comfort won out in the morning. I just didn't want to feel gross all day long.

Update

From Wednesday 6/25 to Tuesday 7/1, I have walked a total of 24.57 miles.

Last night I put on 5.23 because of the long walk I took. It was a walk that I used to take when I first starting losing my weight and it was wonderful being back on it. I even had my own cheering section.
They were grazing and saw me walking on the road. All of a sudden they all came running at me in a big group. Then they all stopped and just stared at me. I figured they were just waiting for me to take their picture, so I decided to oblige.

Happy 4th!
